Island Highlights Tour
This tour is ideal for those who want to experience all the main sights and delights of the Island in one tour. It takes in the scenery, coastline, villages, attractions and places of historical significance in all four corners of the Island.
The tour starts at Douglas Head with commanding views of the capital and the surrounding countryside and hills. Continuing along the Victorian Promenade it heads along the East Coast road following the tracks of the Manx Electric Railway (dating back to 1890’s), visiting the remote Old Lonan Church with Celtic crosses dating from 6th Century and the famous Laxey Wheel (largest example in the world).
Returning to Douglas to stop at the TT Grandstand where the world's oldest motorcycle races start. Heading west to the Viking site and St John’s. Onwards to Peel, arguably the Most Manx town, where the historic castle, fishing harbour and kipper smoke house are the highlights. Driving along the coast road to wonderful views at Niarbyl. The trip then climbs over hill and moorland and descends to the Victorian sea-side town of Port Erin. Further south it passes Cregneash, a Manx crofting village preserved as it was 150 years ago and reaches The Sound - perhaps the most beautiful spot on the Island.
On the way back we visit Castletown the historic capital and location of 13th century Castle Rushen and the popular Fairy Bridge – where one says “Hello fairies”.
This is a half-day tour (approx. 4 hours) starting either morning or afternoon, with 10-12 stops at points of interest.
Price is £220 per car.
